Ever wish you could hop behind the wheel of a Skynet Moto-Terminator or drive a DeLorean through the space-time continuum straight back to 1955? Join the club.
While you might not be able to actually pilot some of the coolest cars in movie and TV history, you can at least catch them on display at the famed Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
In this exhibit, beginning today and running through March 2020, you can check out full-size vehicles from the big and small screen at the Petersen’s new exhibit, Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy. All your favorite sci-fi fare is represented here, from A Clockwork Orange to Mad Max: Fury Road, and Blade Runner to, well, Blade Runner 2049.
Produced in collaboration with the Comic-Con Museum, Hollywood Dream Machines assembles 40 cars from futuristic flicks in tribute to “the industry that Los Angeles was built upon,” says the museum’s executive director, Terry L. Karges, in a press release. “We can’t wait to explore the fantasy and fictional concepts behind these extraordinary vehicles with the world.”
And we can’t wait to get to L.A. to see ’em. But until then, here’s a sneak preview of eight of the coolest cars at the museum, with behind-the-scenes peeks at some of the rides’ finest features.
